We are grateful to the more than 60 poets, singers, drummers, facilitators, speakers who made the day inspiring, joyous and thought-provoking.
Our intention for this day was to bring people together in the space around the sculpture, exploring the theme of gender equality through different forms of creativity and performance, in ways that were powerful, emotional, celebratory and fun.
Art Day for Gender Equality is a partnership between 1001 Spheres project and The Arts House Trust. 1001 Spheres was commissioned by Auckland Council in 2023 and is a collaboration between artist Chiara Corbelletto and engagement designer Judith Thompson.
Art Yoga
The day started in a tranquil and meditative way with Dinny and Giulia's Art Yoga workshop – a wellbeing practice, combining freedom of artistic expression with guided meditation. Beautiful live music was provided by guitarist Marco Peluso.
SHE Choir
33 voices, in perfect three-part harmony, sang an uplifting song-list including a rousing Power Women Medley of Beyoncè’s Crazy in Love, Adele’s Rumor Has It and Taylor Swift’s I Knew You Were Trouble.
